1. Who can have a Skola Email Account?

All state school students whose parents agreed and signed the "Acceptable Use Policy" will be given an email account. Every year, email accounts will be given to year 1 pupils.

2. How much does this cost?

Nothing. This account is given to students free of charge for educational use.

3. When will the email account be deleted?

The email accounts will be deleted:

  • When students stop attending a state school, usually at the end of Form 5.
  • On the parents' request by informing the Head of School, in writing.
  • If the student infringes the Acceptable Use Policy.

4. How many email accounts can one student have?
One email account per student.

5. How much storage space is given to each student?
Students are given 5MB of storage space which can hold emails and attachments.

6. How can I access my email account?

Go to http://skola.gov.mt and type in your whole email address and password. Then click Go.

VERY IMPORTANT: Remember to Log Out when ready by clicking on the button which can be found at the upper right corner.

7. What can I do if I forget my email or password?

The Head of School keeps a list of the students' email accounts. If you forgot your email address, ask your Head Teacher to give it to you again.

If you forgot the password then go to http://skola.gov.mt, type your full email address in the Email box and click Go. Then click on "Forgot It?". Your password will be sent to your Head Teacher. Ask the Head to give you your password.

Note: Keep a copy of your Email address and Password in a safe place so that you will not need to go to the Head each time you forget them.

8. How can I read my recieved mail?

All incoming e-mails are found in the Inbox Mailbox. When you log into your email account, the list of emails you recieved in the Inbox folder will be displayed. To read an email click on an email and it will be displayed in the lower part of the window.

You can also read emails that are in other mail boxes. The list of mail boxes is displayed on the left pane.

  • The Inbox contains the recieved emails.
  • The Drafts contains emails you save while writing them, so that you can send them later.
  • The Sent Items contains emails you already sent to your friends.
  • The Address Book does not contain emails. In it you can save your friends' email addresses.
  • The Trash Can contains the emails you deleted.

Normally, the page is set up to show you the first 20 messages, if you need to see more messages select a number on the dropdown list.

The message list can be sorted by any of the Status, From, Subject, Size, Received and Priority fields. This is done by clicking on any of the titles. (Clicking once will sort them in descending order, clicking again will sort in ascending order).

9. How can I open and save attachments?

Emails can contain attachments, i.e., pictures, documents or other files. Emails containg attachments are marked by a paper clip in the status field.

  1. Open the email containing the attachment.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the email.
  3. Click on the links which start with the word File to open them OR right click on the links and choose Save target as... to save the files.

10. How can I write and send an email?

You can iether reply to a recieved email, forward a ricieved message to a different person, or write a new email.

Reply to a message using the reply button. The message you write will be sent to the person who sent the email to you. The message you recieved will also be included in your reply. Write your reply at the top.

Forward a message by clicking on the forward button. This is used when you want to send a message you recieved to another person.

To write a new message click on button.

11. Can I send attachments with my email?

Yes, you can. The attachment should fit in the reciever's inbox.

12. Can I save email addresses in an address book?

Yes. Click on Address Book in the left pane, to list your contacts. Then click on the button to add a contact.

To insert an address from the address book while you are composing a message choose Address Book from the pull down menu.

13. How can I change the password?

Every time you think that somebody has discovered your password, it is important that you change it.

Click on Settings and then choose Password.

In the Current Password box type the old password.
Type the new password twice.
Click Save Password

14. How can I delete an email?

Most of the messages received are eventually deleted.

After opening the message click on Delete if you do not need it anymore. At this stage, the message is not lost yet but is moved to the Trash Can.

To delete more than one message you can tick the check boxes of the unwanted messages and click Delete. The messages selected will be moved to the Trash Can.

To delete the messages completely, click on empty now which can be found next to the Trash Can. Once the Trash Can is emptied, messages cannot be retrieved.

15. How can I Log Out?

It is very important to Log Out when you finnish using the email account. Otherwise other people using your computer will be able to access your email account.

To log out click on the button which can be found at the upper right corner.
