10. How can I upload my website?

After you design and create a website, it is time to put it on the Internet so that everybody can see it. You can put your website files on the Internet by using the MS Internet Explorer's built-in FTP facility. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol.

  1. Click ftp://schoolnet.gov.mt or type it in the address bar. Note that this URL starts with ftp:// and not http://.

  2. A dialogue box will be displayed asking for your User name and Password. Your User name is the last part of your website's address. E.g., the User name of http://schoolnet.gov.mt/mary is mary. So type the User Name and Password and press the Enter key.

  3. Now you can copy the files you want to upload from your harddisk and paste them here.

The files you upload will replace the files that were uploaded earlier if they have exactly the same name.

Remember that one of the files should be called "default.html".
