Lawrence Zammit is an Advisor at the Department of Technology in Education. He was the Director of this department for several years till 2006. He was head of the Fellenberg Training Centre (FTC) for Industrial Electronics for over twenty years. The FTC was the first educational institution in Malta which provided courses in digital electronics and microprocessors.
In 1996 he was appointed Assistant Director of Education responsible for ICT. He chaired and was a member of a number of MATSEC examination boards. Mr Zammit represents the Ministry of Education on the EUN Schoolnet Steering Committee, the EU ICT Expert Group, the EU eLearning Committee and NISCO.
He holds an engineering degree and a diploma in management from Turin. Mr Zammit was also a part-time lecturer in digital electronics in the Faculty of Engineering between 1990 and 1996.
Mr Zammit has been recently awarded the IT Literacy Award by the ECDL Foundation in recognition of his Department’s contribution to the advancement of digital literacy in Malta through the adoption of ECDL as part of the Secondary School curriculum.
